HEADLINE: Bringing the music home

BODY:

Fast rising Saxophone star Dan Forshaw returns home to Fleetwood on
Friday November 25th to launch his new CD “Time Stood Still”.
Dan, who grew up in Fleetwood and his family still live and work in the town,
now works and studies in London although he still maintains his monthly
residency at the award winning Villa hotel in Wrea Green.

Dan’s new CD was recorded at Emmanuel Church in Fleetwood with fellow jazz pianist Mike Taylor.
The two decided to collaborate on the album after Dan’s visit to New York in March and April of this year.
“I came home from New York with an abundance of ideas for a new CD that I wanted to record
specifically with Mike, particularly focusing on a more spiritual and meditative dimension to the album”.
Dan’s previous 2 CD’s “Question 21” and “Live at the Villa” were firmly routed in the jazz genre,
this album Dan states is a little bit harder to classify, “It certainly is not jazz in the rounded sense of the word,
but it is also not ‘classical’ in the way that many would perceive it….if anything I have tried to make it justified to itself not any common classification”.

The album features on its cover the cross from the World trade centre site in New York, in his linear notes Dan states

“For centuries the cross and the symbol of the cross has stood out as the main symbol of Christianity.
Many have found peace, hope and joy at the cross, particularly at times of crisis,
(the cross pictured on the cover sleeve is that found after clearing the rubble away
from WTC tower 2 after the terrible events of 9/11). By spending time under,
next or with a cross people have found an inner courage and sense of peace
during many times of trauma and suffering. Death by the cross however was anything but peaceful;
it was reserved for the lowest of the low by one of the most brutal of empires”

All profits from the CD will be put towards music for young people in Fleetwood, Dan added
“I had some great opportunities to perform in Fleetwood during my youth though Church,
School and the wider community and I want with this CD to put a small contribution back!”,
The CD will be launched with a recital concert at Emmanuel Church on Friday 25th November,
starting at 8pm, all are welcome and entry is free
